The Essential Market is a proudly local food, arts, craft and community initiative. Come support and meet your neighbours. “Buy-a-local-lekker product”. The rejuvenated Unitas Park, (situated next to the Milnerton Tennis Club), is the perfect venue to host this community fayre. The market is open from 10am to 3pm on the last Sunday of every month with ample parking available. Something for everyone. Stock up your picnic hamper to meander through the playground, parks, lagoon and beachfront. Fully COVID Compliant.

The Essential Market

What better location than UNITAS PARK to unite us in this vision. Located opposite Milnerton Lagoon and walking distance from the bus stop. Safe parking for 240 vehicles, the Essential Goods Market has great potential to become a landmark in Cape Town, alongside the Milnerton Flea market and Century City Natural Goods Market nearby. We aim to create something uniquely different and ask stallholders to keep this in mind.

Much More than a Market

The Essential Market will be the heart and soul of the Milnerton Meander,

A place for families to eat, drink and be merry through Christmas and summertime. Every Sunday 10-3pm you will find delicious locally made food for your picnic in the park or take away your groceries for the week ahead: meat, veg, eggs, bread or tasty treats, something for everyone. Arts, crafts, clothing and more, listen to live music at the beach bar serving craft beers and cool refreshments, entertain or be entertained – we want to see unity in our community and encourage you to participate in the growth of the Milnerton Meander, the market, and associated social and environmental projects.

Your vibe attracts your tribe. This is a huge  co-ordinated effort built on the foundations of peace, unity, respect, love and pride for our neighbourhood.

The team welcomes your participation and support. We promise lots of FUN, LAUGHTER and HAPPY TIMES.

Each Sunday will offer new flavours, entertainment, talks and action. The park is open for sports too, a gym and a play park for the kids, enjoy a game of tennis or come to a talk or yoga in the tennis hall.

Health considerations are being respected, sanitiser will be provided at the entrance. Ablution facilities and water will be provided. Dogs are welcome, provided the owners are behaved.

An important focus is to establish partnerships with council, business, individuals and organisations who are leaders in our community, we would like to see collaboration on all levels to ensure safety and security at the market, in our streets as well as committed action to restoring our wetland, lagoon and ocean.
